We provided a Virtual Production car plates process for Studiocanal's remake of El desconocido, directed by Nimród Antal, starring Liam Neeson, Noma Dumezweni, Lilly Aspell, Jack Champion, Embeth Davidtz and Matthew Modine.
Retribution is the third remake of the 2015 Spanish film, which follows a financier executive who gets trapped in his car, while driving his two children to school, after receiving a threat that it will explode should he get out.
Most of the internal car scenes with dialogue were filmed using virtual production, taking place within a 5m high 270-degree LED volume. Production had a limited number of days with the actors during one of the rainiest weeks in Berlin, and the volume allowed them full use of these days. 630 LED panels supplied by Faber Audiovisuals, expertly stitched latlongs from Outer Limits, captured by Brownian Motion, playback to LED via Disguise VX4 media servers, with Brompton processing.
